How Weighted Grades Work

  1. 01

    Add categories

Each row is an assignment, exam, or grade category.

  2. 02

    Enter score (0–100)

The percentage score for that category.

  3. 03

    Enter weight

How much that category counts toward the final grade. Weights are relative — 30 and 70 works the same as 3 and 7.

    Final grade = sum(score × weight) ÷ sum(weights).

Examples

  • Two equal categories

    Midterm 85% (weight 50) + Final 90% (weight 50) = 87.5% final.

  • Unequal weights

    Homework 95% (weight 20) + Exam 80% (weight 80) = 83% final.

  • Three categories

    Quizzes 88% (30) + Project 92% (30) + Final 78% (40) = 85.4% final.
